March-ing Along...
Endings, and beginnings!!!
Hello all and happy March!!! Is it just me or have the first couple months of 2026 just flown by?!
A couple updates for this, well, update… First, we’ve just got hours left on our Kickstarter for the trade of the first 3 issues of Kate Carter!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/robjonesart/kate-carter-adventures-volume-1-trade
If you’ve not joined us over there yet, we’ve smashed our first stretch goal, which will be an additional 6x9 mini-print! Here is the art for the print, as voted on by you the readers and backers!
And, here is the print for if we reach $1750… Got a ways to go for that, but I’ll remain hopeful until all hope is lost ;)
Both of these were a blast to do and I’m pretty pleased with how they’ve come out!
As far as other Kate Carter work, I am happy to say the art for issue #8 is FINSIHED!!! Yup, all 24 pages are drawn, colored, and lettered (After an edit by my wonderful wife!) and ready to go for our next campaign!!! The printing and shipping for the trade should be all wrapped up by May at the latest, so I’m thinking June 1st will be the launch date for our next Kickstarter. Between now and then, I’ll be starting on issue #9!!! Can not believe we’ve done so many!!!
And speaking of Kate and Kickstarter, I am part of another campaign launching soon! It’s an anthology book by my good friend Rachel Ordway and it will have a new 5 page Kate Carter story in it— It’s called Nothing Is Stranger Than Fiction, and it was a blast to adapt an old short story I did years and years ago to be a new Kate Carter Adventure.
Rachel is truly one of the good folks in comics and she’s really done an amazing job gathering a really, really talented group of people together (…And me too…), so I’ll write another post when it’s ready so you can all check it out!!!
Speaking of good people in comics, I’ve also been plugging away at Calista with Ace Masters and have another couple of pages done! Here are a few I can post without giving anything away:
Again this story has been years and years in the making (Granted, with a LARGE gap in the middle…) so it’s great to be making progress on it!!! Ace has come up with a fun script, and has years of plots planned out, so we’ve got a lot to look forward to. We are planning on pitching this to publishers so I will keep you updated on our progress with not only the book itself but it’s potential publishing plans…
Let’s see, what else did I do in February? Well, I did a few more Not Everyone Talks To Birds! strips!
And I did the first illustration for my friend Jeff O’Bryant’s new book tentatively called The Gentleman of Bone.
Jeff is an art collector as well as an amazingly talented writer (See, lots of good people in this update!) so I’m doing his illustrations traditionally, and in the end he will wind up with 30 new pieces, which will make him the largest Rob Jones collector there is!(Besides my mom, who I think still has all my childhood stuff, and my buddy Allan who’s collection grows with each Kickstarter— Thanks as always my friend!!!)
And, speaking of Allan (And again, good people!), I did a Shadow commission for him for this current Kickstarter campaign:
I was worried that, since his costume is mostly black, that Allan would think I was being lazy on his piece, so I did a li’l bit extra in the background to make it seem worthwhile ;)
And, if anyone’s interested in having some original art of their own, there’s still time to pledge to the campaign where there are a couple of original art tiers!!!
Another piece I did, just under the wire of being included in an update about February, was this cover for my friends Martin T. Pierro and Kevin LaPorte new book, Turbocharged Teenager!
It’s also live on Kickstarter right now so check it out and give it a pledge if you can!!!

And again speaking of good people in comics, I’ve got my first con announcement for the year too— I will be setting up with my friend Jerry Ordway at TerrifiCon again this year! Had to miss it last year so it’ll be great to get back and hang out with my art hero all weekend! Also attending are my other art buddies Brian Stelfreeze and Cully Hamner, as well as the Maestro Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, and that’s just who’s been announced so far! It’s always a great show so yeah, if you can join us August 7-9 it’s well worth the trip!
As a thank you to the promoter, Mitch Hallock, I’ve done a piece of his character, Captain Terrificon, flying over the venue (Mohegan Sun).
This is another traditional art piece, with the building being done mostly in Photoshop and printed on the board…
So yeah, art wise that’s been my month! I also took some time out to do the second Cannon Reloaded post (https://perfectstormpublishing.substack.com/p/cannon-reloaded-2-cannon-harder) and shoveled a lot, though not as much as some of you did I’m sure. We luckily have a wonderful neighbor who has one of those powered shovel/blower things and he was kind enough to dig us out a few times (He’s also like 16 years younger than me so yeah, let the kid do it!!!), so I just want to shout out to Dan (Who I think reads this?) a big thank you!!!
Please take care and I will see you again in April!!!
Rob :D

Love that Shadow print!
